CONSTITUTION

Article One: Name

The name of the organization shall be the College Republicans, hereinafter referred to as the "CRs".

Article Two: Purpose

The CRS shall foster and encourage the activities of the Republican Party, assist in the election of Republican candidates to local, state and national office, and formulate and administer programs aimed at involving college students in the Republican Party.

Article Three: Membership

Membership in the CRS is open to all members of the Drew University community. It is hereby given acknowledge that the Drew University College Republicans assures that the policies and practices pertaining to the membership of our organization do not discriminate based on sex, race, religion, color, ancestry, national origin, marital status, handicap, age and life style. It is also hereby understood that the only exemptions to this claim may be due to the sex or religious composition of our organization, which is allowable by law.

Article Four: Officers

Section 1. The officers of the CRS shall be a President and Vice-President.

Section 2. A vacancy in an elective office shall be filled by special election at the next duly called meeting of the CRS after vacancy.


Article Five: Officer Terms, Qualifications, and Removal

Section 1. All officers shall be elected a the last meeting of the spring semester and shall serve for a term of two semesters, with no limit to the terms to which a person may be reelected. All elections are by majority vote.

Section 2. All officers shall be members of the CRS and a vacancy shall automatically develop when the officer terminates his student status, notwithstanding a summer recess when the officer or special committee member intends to resume student status at the next school term.

Article Six: Voting

A quorum must be present in order to vote for all elected positions and any other issue. The quorum will consist of 50% plus one of the membership.

Article Seven: Meetings

The CRS shall meet not less than once a month upon the call of the President and at a time and place set by the President.

Article Eight: Amendments

This Constitution may be amended by two-thirds affirmative vote of the members present and voting at the consecutive meetings of the CRS
